Lisa Peana is a first generation American born in South Florida to immigrant parents who came legally from Communist Romania in 1980.
Lisa's father was a University Professor of Metallurgical Engineering and her mother was an entrepreneur when they left the socialist regime. When her parents arrived, the only employment they could secure was sweeping floors in a cabinet shop and working as a seamstress. She has two older brothers that also immigrated in their teenage years with their parents.
Her family worked tirelessly to learn to speak English and assimilate into the American way of life. In less than two years from immigrating, her family had opened their first business, a high-end custom furniture store and purchased their first home. Old World Furniture is still open today and is operated by her oldest brother, Christian. It is well-regarded and award-winning for workmanship and design.
Shortly after the fall of communism, Lisa and her family lived in Romania where they were involved in Commerce and Real Estate. Lisa attended Ion Barbu Theoretical High School where she played Volleyball and Soccer while enrolled in a Math/Physics Magnet Program. She had the opportunity through activism in conservative movements to see first hand the effects of socialist government and the reforms needed to recover from its devastation.
In 2003, Lisa and her family secured roots in Wayne County, WV and ran for the House of Delegates in 2006 and 2008 in the 17th District.
In 2007 - 2008, Lisa was President of the West Virginia Republican Club, an organization created to aid the WV Republican Party with Candidate Recruitment and Training. She resigned from that position after the 2008 primary to focus on her House race.
Today, she is a Realtor with Great American Realty in Huntington, WV. She is also the Executive Director of the WV Federation of Young Republicans.
Lisa is a member of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Committee. She resides in Ceredo, WV with her husband Jamison Jeffrey and their son, Anthony. They are members of the First Independent Missionary Baptist Church of Kenova. They enjoy many activities as a family such as traveling, fishing, hunting and cheering on Marshall University's Thundering Herd.
