I have been enjoying the articles placed by dedicated Republicans around the state here on wvgopthinktank.org. I believe this is a great idea, although I would have preferred it to be available only to Republicans. I see no reason to share our thoughts with our opponents. Other than that aspect I feel we are indeed making progress in West Virginia. It is no secret the state has conservative tendencies as the last presidential elections have shown. We must work together to build upon the foundations that we have for future success.
I would like to publicly state my support for our Chairman, Doug McKinney, and his decision to hire Gary Abernathy as Executive Director. We live in perilous times and we must have a leader who will be bold. True leaders make decisions that sometimes can be controversial. We can see what is happening now in Washington as the Democratic Party is failing the American people. The Democrats are blindly making decisions that do not have any direction or true leadership. The voters of America have made a monumental mistake in electing Barack Obama who I have nicknamed President Evil. With the majority power they are like a pack of Piranha in a feeding frenzy. The Congressional Democrats in power are more concerned about their own selfish needs instead of the needs of American people. While the uncontrolled and directionless Democratic majority will be very detrimental to our country. It is the best thing that could happen to the Republican Party!
People across America and particularly here in West Virginia will soon come to realize the Democratic Party has no real direction, no concern for the needs of people and have no leadership in this time of crisis. The policies being enacted are foolhardy and will make our economy worse. People that vote conservative will respond accordingly. Our narrow losses can become victories.
That is why we must unite and support our chairman, our new executive director and our Republican Party here in West Virginia. We are the party of leadership. And I call upon every Republican to get involved. I call upon every conservative person in West Virginia to break ranks with whatever party they are registered with and join the party of leadership, the Republican Party. Chairman McKinney is providing strong leadership at a time when it is needed. Our party is growing stronger financially every day. The WVGOP is stronger than it has ever been before thanks to the hard work and dedication of our party leaders and concerned individuals. True leadership requires tough decisions even when you will not be popular. Our last great President; George W. Bush made the tough decisions to keep America safe. Doing what is right is important regardless of what people think.
The time is now to support our party. Whatever differences we may have can be worked out together in a unified manner. I can’t tell you how disheartening it is for Republicans to hear more negative news coverage about our party. We must stop this and work together. Our common good is more important then our individual differences. I support our Chairman, I support our candidates and I support our party. I believe in not only talking the talk but walking the walk. Therefore, on behalf of God Almighty, my family and every man, woman and child in West Virginia I pledge $ 5,000 to the West Virginia Republican Party. I am not doing this because I can afford to. I am doing this because I CAN NOT AFFORD NOT TO. I ask every Republican and every concerned conservative to join our Chairman, our Executive Director and our Executive Committee in making the Republican Party strong in West Virginia. Our beloved West Virginia deserves the best we can give.
