Voting record data base would be helpful
By Eddie Meredith

One tool the State Republican Party needs to make available for all House of Delegates, Senate, and etc candidates is a data base that shows the voting records of all elected officials.
This data base should include all votes cast by members of the legislature whether that vote is for passage of a specific piece of legislation, roll call votes, or voting to discharge committee responsibility on a bill.
With such a tool at the disposal of all Republican candidates, the Democrats would finally be required to defend their voting records.
The Legislature website is much too complicated for people to figure out and is a poor source for vital information such as voting records.
Republicans candidates cannot win in West Virginia by just running on a Pro-Life or Pro-Gun agenda. This is because most Democrats claim these titles also.
However, with a voting record data base each Republican candidate would be able to show the voting public in their districts that there is a world of difference between how a Republican would vote on issues compared to how the Democrats are voting.
Such a system should go back as far as there are records.
